Announce Relapses, a re-edit of Distractions, out February 16th on Good Fight Music.

In February 2023, experimental metal band See You Next Tuesday returned with Distractions, their first new album in 15 years. Today, the band announces Relapses, an electronic-forward re-edit of Distractions, set for release on February 16th, 2024 on Good Fight Music. In creating Relapses, See You Next Tuesday, multi-instrumentalist and producer Drew Slavik led the charge, revitalizing the songs into something different and bringing collaborators on board. The band now shares two collaborations, the “Repeating Patterns” feat. Kyle Medina of Bodysnatcher and “The Sweetest Pot” feat. Rich Lombardi of The Sawtooth Grin.

Both tracks were created by Slavik and drummer James Watson, using elements of Distractions tracks "Glad to Be Unhappy" and "Call Me Irresponsible,” respectively. The tracks come together in a brutal whirlwind, and you can watch a peculiar futuristic video below.

Speaking on working with See You Next Tuesday, Bodysnatcher’s Kyle Medina states:

“See You Next Tuesday is such a monumental band for me; I remember listening to this band in high school, thinking it was the peak of chaotic evil music, just a sonic assault of maniac music. And now they are back; Drew had asked me about doing a song/spot, and I honestly couldn’t believe it. Had a massive amount of fun recording this, which was an absolute honor.”

And The Sawtooth Grin’s Rich Lombardi also comments:

“When an opportunity to collaborate makes this much sense, conceptually, artistically, and creatively, you simply must set aside your detest for guest features and scream for 37 seconds. That’s what I always say, anyway.”

Inspired by Fear Factory’s 1997 remix album Remanufacture, the songs on Relapses use components of the songs from Distractions to create an original record. You’ll hear See You Next Tuesday’s blend of experimental metal and grindcore combined with industrial, electronic, and avant-garde noise. For the album, the band worked with several artists on creating the tracks, including Thotcrime, ZOMBIESHARK!, John Cxnnor, Black Magnet, and more. The final track on the record, “The Gold Room,” is a totally new creation, made with the metal/mathcore band Frontierer.
